Mark Zuckerberg is getting Meta to develop a new app for prediction market betting

Mark Zuckerberg and Meta are reportedly setting their sights on a whole new type of app called Arena, and this one is all about prediction market betting.

Meta is reportedly developing a new platform where users can predict the outcomes of everything from sports matches to major world events.

It’s a surprising move from the company behind Facebook and Instagram, but it taps into one of the internet’s fastest-growing trends.

If it takes off, the app could become the tech company’s next big obsession.

How would Arena work?

According to reports, Zuck and his tech company are quietly working on a futuristic brand-new app called Arena.

The idea is simple: users make predictions about things that haven’t happened yet, whether that’s who will win a championship, what a company might announce, or even the outcome of a big political event.

For now, players would earn points instead of money, turning it into more of a competition than a gambling app.

But with prediction markets becoming increasingly popular online, it’s easy to see why Zuckerberg wants a slice of the pie.

Platforms that let people predict future events have attracted millions of users over the past couple of years, and the market is growing at a rapid pace.

If Arena proves popular, there are reports that the company could eventually explore adding real-money betting in the future, although nothing has been confirmed.

Meta has a habit of chasing the internet’s biggest trends

This wouldn’t be the first time Meta has spotted something popular and decided to build its own version.

When short-form videos exploded thanks to TikTok, Instagram launched Reels; when X changed direction, Threads hit the scene.

Now, prediction markets appear to be next on the list.

The app is still reportedly in the early stages, so there’s no guarantee it will ever be released and the company hasn’t officially announced Arena either.

Plenty of experimental projects never make it beyond development, still, if anyone has the audience to turn a niche idea into something huge, it’s Meta.

The company already has billions of users across its apps, so even a small percentage giving Arena a try could make it one of the biggest prediction market betting platforms around.

Whether it becomes the next viral app or ends up being another project that quietly disappears remains to be seen, but it’s certainly not the kind of move many people would have expected from Mark Zuckerberg.
