UAE plans to launch 6G by 2030, facilitating the transmission of human senses

UAE plans to launch 6G before 2030, to further advance technologies like AI, remote surgeries, and diagnostics.
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) of UAE has unveiled its 6G Roadmap.
According to the authority, they foresee this technology supporting innovative use cases, thanks to its low latency and high accuracy.

These innovative use cases include digital transmission of human senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell) worldwide.
Their roadmap showed that the first priority is to enhance digital infrastructure to harness 6G capabilities.
While the rest of the world is still trying to roll out 5G technology, the UAE seems to be looking way ahead.
Only recently Japan was planning to launch a solar-powered flying 5G mobile base station.

Several other countries are still working hard to roll out 5G, especially the US and China.
China in particular has already installed three million base stations.
Apple is also planning on making their latest iPhone 16 lineup support the 5G advanced standard.
Meanwhile, the UAE telecom operators are already investing quite a lot in 6G and new technologies.

The UAE’s TDRA said, “This technology is expected to enhance the capabilities of robotics and elevate artificial intelligence.
“It holds the potential to revolutionize various domains, including autonomous intelligent transportation systems and transformative developments in healthcare, such as remote surgery and diagnostics,” they added.
They have also set up a committee that will facilitate scientific studies, research, and the development of technical standards and specifications for 6G.
TDRA will also provide the necessary frequencies and regulatory frameworks for facilitating 6G experiments.
If all goes to plan, the country can expect to support the 6G network by 2030.
This is all on top of the ongoing development of the advanced 5G network (5.5G).
