Australian shows what happens when you force an iPhone to run 2 versions of iOS and it got very interesting

An Australian content creator had an intrusive thought and showed us what happens when you have an iPhone that’s running not one, but two versions of iOS at the same time, for some reason, and things got…interesting.

Using an old iPhone 5, he decided to try something most Apple fans would never dream of doing: make one phone switch between two totally different iPhone eras like Taylor Swift on tour.

The goal was to run both iOS 6 and iOS 7 on the same device, bringing two iconic Apple interfaces together in one phone.

What he ended up with was nostalgic, but also quite entertaining.

What happens when you force an iPhone to run two versions of iOS on one phone?

This bizarre tech challenge centered around the iconic early iPhone 5, a device that happened to sit right between two major Apple eras.

On one side was iOS 6, known for its glossy display, classic slide-to-unlock screen, and older-style Apple design.

On the other hand was iOS 7, the bold redesign that arrived in 2013 with brighter colors, thinner text, and a much cleaner look.

The creator, Zachary Staines, wanted both, but getting there was not exactly smooth sailing.

There were failed restarts, confusing setup moments, and plenty of frustration along the way.

At one point, a simple cable turned out to be the thing causing all the trouble, but after a lot of patience, the iPhone finally came back to life with IOS 7 loaded up.

Then came the next big moment: adding six as well, and somehow, it worked.

Things got very interesting

With both systems running, the phone became a pocket-sized Apple time capsule, and switching between six and seven showed just how dramatic the change was when Apple moved from one style to the other.

iOS 6 felt playful and classic, but then one tap later, iOS 7 looked sleek, modern, and much closer to the iPhones we know today.

Even simple things like unlocking the phone, opening apps, checking messages, or using the camera felt completely different depending on which version was active.

For anyone who owned an iPhone during that time, it brought back serious nostalgia, but now we’re on iOS 26.4, and the iOS 7 era feels like a whole different lifetime.

It’s like the iPhone’s biggest glow-up ever.
