Apple's Wallet app is getting all of these new features with iOS 27

Apple’s Wallet app is getting one of its biggest upgrades yet with iOS 27, adding a whole host of new features that could make carrying a physical wallet feel even less necessary.
From creating your own digital passes to AI that can split a restaurant bill, the update gives the app a lot more functionality than simply storing your bank cards.
If you’re someone who already relies on Wallet every day, there’s plenty to get excited about.
Here’s everything that’s coming with iOS 27.
Apple’s Wallet app is getting smarter with iOS 27
One of the biggest additions to your Apple gadgets with iOS 27 is the ability to create your own Wallet passes.
Using Apple’s Visual Intelligence, users can scan physical tickets, loyalty cards, membership cards, and even their ID that don’t officially support Apple Wallet and turn them into digital versions.

You can even personalize them with different templates and backgrounds to make them look more like official Wallet passes.
Existing passes are also getting an upgrade, with larger images and extra information.

Developers can add useful shortcuts too, including checking loyalty balances or getting directions to a venue.
Hotel keys are becoming more useful as well, because instead of simply unlocking your room, participating hotels can display booking details, activities, and available services directly inside the Wallet app.

Apple’s Wallet app is becoming much more than a digital wallet
Apple is also bringing Apple Intelligence to Wallet with a smart bill-splitting feature.
Simply take a photo of a restaurant receipt and your iPhone will identify each item, let everyone claim what they ordered, calculate tax and tip, and generate Apple Cash payment requests.
The feature will only be available where Apple Cash is supported.

Elsewhere, Wallet is getting a new Insights section that lets users view spending trends, recurring payments, balances, and other financial information from supported banks without switching between different apps.
Apple is also expanding order tracking to more countries, including Australia and Canada, while a new Tap to Share feature will allow customers to quickly connect with participating merchants for faster checkouts.
Some of the headline features will require newer iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, but for many users, iOS 27 could make Apple’s Wallet app more useful than ever before.
