Bose has been caught asking if we remember when our biggest problem with our headphones meant untangling our wired earbuds rather than desperately searching for a charging case?

Bose is bringing back a little nostalgia with a new pair of wired earbuds designed for the modern world.

The audio giant has taken a classic accessory and given it a rather impressive makeover, complete with features designed to make everyday listening easier.

Best of all, there’s no battery to charge, no Bluetooth to connect and no worrying about your music cutting out halfway through a journey.

Bose’s new wired earbuds bring back nostalgia with a modern twist

Wireless headphones are the gadget that might rule the world right now, but Bose clearly thinks there’s still room for a good old-fashioned cable.

The company has unveiled its new Noise-Cancelling Wired Earbuds, bringing back the simplicity of plugging headphones straight into a device while adding a feature that was once reserved for more expensive wireless models.

The earbuds cost $99 in the US and £99.95 in the UK, and connect through USB-C, making them compatible with supported smartphones, tablets and computers.

And here’s the really interesting part: they don’t have a battery inside.

Instead, the earbuds take their power directly from the device they’re connected to, so there’s no charging routine to add to your already busy life.

That means no discovering your headphones are dead just as you leave the house, and no rummaging through your bag for a charging case that seems to have vanished into another dimension.

They can block out the world without Bluetooth

The biggest surprise is that Bose hasn’t simply brought back an old design and hoped nostalgia would do the rest.

These earbuds come with active noise cancellation, which helps reduce the sound of noisy commutes, busy offices and other everyday distractions.

There are also different listening modes, allowing users to block out more background noise when they want some peace or let more of the outside world in when they need to stay aware of their surroundings.

An in-line remote on the cable lets users adjust the volume, control their music and manage calls without having to dig out their phone every few minutes.

The built-in microphone also means they can handle phone calls, so you won’t need to swap to another device whenever someone rings.

A little bit of the 1990s meets modern tech

Bose has even given the earbuds a few design touches that make them feel more like a proper modern gadget than something rescued from the bottom of a childhood backpack.

They come with interchangeable silicone tips to help users find a comfortable fit, while their water-resistant design offers some protection against sweat, splashes, and rain.

There’s also a carry case to keep them tidy when they’re not in use, which should hopefully prevent the cable from turning into a knot that would challenge even the most patient person.

Buyers can choose Black or White Smoke, while a limited-edition Dewdrop Mint colour adds a playful splash of retro style.

The earbuds are available to pre-order through Bose, with shipping scheduled to begin on October 15, 2026.

Wireless earbuds are convenient, but they also come with batteries to charge, connections to manage and another gadget to keep track of.

Bose’s latest release offers a different approach, combining the simplicity of wired listening with modern noise cancellation.

At $99, they could appeal to commuters, students and anyone who’s grown tired of charging yet another device.

The cable might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if it means your music is always ready when you are, perhaps wired headphones deserve another moment in the spotlight.
